内容摘要:The explosive growth of wireless traffic along with limited radio spectrum resources is demanding more flexible and efficient access to the radio spectrum. Database-driven dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) is the FCC-approved de facto technical paradigm for increasing wireless spectrum access that has been highlighted as a catalyst for economic growth in FCC's National Broadband Plan. In such a system, a geo-location database administrator (DBA) accepts registrations from licensed wireless devices (primary users) and determines spectrum availability, and unlicensed wireless devices (secondary users) are all required to inquire the DBA about the availability of any interested spectrum before using it. An effective approach to improve the spectrum-estimation accuracy in database-driven DSS systems is to deploy a small number of dedicated spectrum sensors at strategic locations and outsource the majority of spectrum-sensing tasks to ubiquitous mobile users. The feasibility of this approach is deeply rooted in the explosive growth in mobile devices with increasing capabilities in sensing, computation, communication, and localization. With real-time spectrum measurements from dedicated sensors and mobile users, the DBA can construct a Radio Environmental Map (REM), based on which secondary users are allowed to transmit or not on specific bands at given times and locations. Security and privacy concerns are among the most challenging obstacles to the wide deployment of database-driven DSS systems armed with spectrum-sensing outsourcing. In this talk, I will first present a novel framework for securing REM construction by combining the spectrum-sensing reports from few dedicated spectrum sensors and many more untrusted mobile users through robust statistical spatial interpolation. I will then discuss how to design incentive-compatible and differentially private mechanisms to stimulate mobile users' participation in DSS systems.

个人简介:Rui Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at the University of Delaware (UD). He received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University in 2013, the M.E. degree in Communication and Information Systems from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2005, and the B.E. degree in Communication Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2001. Before joining the UD, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Hawaii from 2013 to 2016. His research interests are the security and privacy issues in wireless networks, mobile crowdsourcing, mobile systems for disabled people, cloud computing, and social networks. He is an Associate Editor of IEEE Internet of Things Journal. He was a general co-chair for Information Security Conference 2016 and has been a TPC member for various conferences such as IEEE INFOCOM, ACM MobiHoc, IEEE ICDE, IEEE SECON, and ACM ASIACCS. He received the NSF CAREER Award in 2017.
